Privacy Statement for the Facebook Profile of Lürssen
(Last updated: August 2024)
1. Preliminary remarks
Lürssen (“we”) is very pleased that you are interested in our Facebook profile on the website at the URL https://www.facebook.com/ or in the Facebook app (hereinafter “Facebook Profile”). We take data protection very seriously. With this privacy statement, we would like to inform you about what personal data are processed to what extent and for what purpose when you visit our Facebook Profile.
We would like to point out that your use of our Facebook Profile and its functions is at your own responsibility. This applies in particular to the use of the interactive functions (e.g. commenting, sharing, reviewing). Alternatively, you can visit our internet presence at http://www.lurssen.com to access information about our company and our products.
2. Data processing on Facebook
2.1 Legal data protection responsibility
We as the operator of the Facebook Profile are the data controller as defined by data protection law with regard to the collection and further processing of personal user data on the Facebook website and in the Facebook app. With regard to the technical operation of the Facebook platform, however, Facebook and thus ultimately the Meta Group is the data controller under data protection law, specifically this is Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland (“Facebook”).
Our Facebook Profile may also contain links to other third-party websites. We do not monitor or control what information is collected when you access a link to a third-party website. The operators of third-party websites may handle personal data differently from the way we do. Hence, we take no responsibility for the content or data processing on other websites.
2.2 Processing of personal data on our Facebook Profile
The nature and extent of collection of personal data when you visit the Facebook Profile depend largely on your user behaviour. When you are using our Facebook Profile purely for information purposes, i.e. when you are not logged in or transferring information in any other way, we do not collect any data on you. We as the operator of this Facebook Profile can only see your public Facebook Profile. What information is visible there depends on your profile settings.
Please note that Facebook also collects and processes certain information on your visit to our Facebook Profile even if you do not have a Facebook user account or are not logged into Facebook. For information on how Facebook processes personal data, please see Facebook’s Privacy Policy at https://de-de.facebook.com/privacy/policy/.
2.3 Cookies
When you visit our Facebook Profile, Facebook also sets cookies on your device. Cookies are small files that are stored on a user’s device (e.g. computer or smart phone). When you access a Facebook page, the IP address assigned to your device is sent to Facebook. According to Facebook, this IP address is anonymised (applies to “German” IP addresses). In addition, Facebook stores information on the devices of their users (e.g. as part of the “log-in notification” function); it may thus be possible for Facebook to associate IP addresses with individual users.
If you are currently logged into Facebook as a user, there is a cookie on your device with your Facebook identification. This allows Facebook to track that you visited this page and how you used it. The same applies to all other Facebook pages. Using Facebook buttons embedded in websites, Facebook is able to record your visits to these websites and associate them with your Facebook Profile. With this data, content or advertising tailored specifically to you can be provided.
If you would like to avoid this, you should log out from Facebook or deactivate the “stay logged in” function, delete the cookies stored on your device, and close your browser and restart it. This way, Facebook information that can be used to identify you directly is deleted, and you can use our Facebook page without revealing your Facebook identification. If you access interactive functions of the page (like, comment, share, news, etc.), a Facebook login window appears. If you do log in, you are once again recognisable to Facebook as a specific user.
For information on how to manage or delete collected information, please see the following Facebook support pages: https://de-de.facebook.com/privacy/policy/.
Facebook does not clearly and conclusively state and we do not know in which way Facebook uses the data from your visit to Facebook pages for their own purposes, to what extent activities on the Facebook page can be associated with individual users, how long Facebook stores these data, and whether data from a visit to the Facebook pages are shared with third parties.
You are not legally or contractually obliged to provide Facebook with your personal data. If you would like to visit our Facebook page, however, processing of your personal data by Facebook is unavoidable.
2.4 Your profile, contact requests and contributions
We as the operator of this Facebook Profile can only see your public Facebook Profile. What information is visible there depends on your profile settings. Beyond that, we process your personal data (for example your name and the content of your messages, inquiries or other contributions you send to us) when you contact us through our Facebook Profile.
We process these data for the purpose of processing your contributions and respond to them if necessary.
These types of processing are based - depending on the occasion and content of the interaction - either on our legitimate interest according to Art. 6 (1) S. 1 f GDPR, in particular for the purpose of contacting you about your inquiries or contributions, or on Art. 6 (1) S. 1 b GDPR, if your inquiry is intended to establish a contract with us.
2.5 Statistical evaluation
Facebook also provides us with anonymised statistical evaluations of the use of our Facebook Profile (called “Insights”).
These include the number of subscribers, views of the Facebook Profile and individual videos, the average play duration of our videos, as well as demographic information about our users (country, region, age, language). However, we do not have access to individual user data.
We process these data for the purpose of optimising the appearance and operation of our Facebook Profile.
These types of processing are based on our legitimate interest according to Art. 6 (1) S. 1 f GDPR, in particular for being able to recognise user preferences (e.g. number of followers, number of views of individual site pages, user statistics by age, geography and language) and adapt and improve the offer to our Facebook Profile as specifically as possible for each target group.
Facebook (Meta) has committed to assume the primary responsibility and safeguard your rights under the GDPR for the processing of these Insights data, and to make the essential aspects of the applicable agreement (https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum?_rdr) available to you.
3. Data recipients
We may transfer your personal data to external service providers, such as IT service providers or advertising agencies, for the purposes described here. We have chosen these service providers carefully and established contracts for commissioned data processing with them.
In addition, we transfer your personal data to other recipients in individual cases, if and as far as this is legally required or permitted, in order to assert legal claims or to investigate or prevent suspected or actual unlawful activities.
4. Third country transfer
The data collected about you are processed by Facebook, and in the course of this processing may be transferred to countries outside of the European Union. In its data processing guidelines, Facebook describes in general terms which data they receive and how those data are used.
There you will also find information about options for contacting Facebook and on the setting options for ads. The data processing guidelines are available at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/center/?entry_point=privacy_basics_redirect. To ensure an adequate data protection level, Facebook conducts such data transfers in accordance with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and on the standard contract clauses of the European Commission.
5. Data deletion and archiving
We store your personal data in our systems, i.e. outside of Facebook, if and for as long as they are required for the purposes of collection, or we are required to store them by law.
6. Your rights
You have the following rights regarding the personal data about your person that we as the controller process:

In addition, you have the right to request that your personal data be erased, provided that further processing is no longer necessary, the processing is unlawful, or you have revoked your consent to the processing of your data.
6.3 Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
If the prerequisites specified in Art. 18 GDPR are fulfilled, you have the right to have the processing of your personal data restricted, i.e. to prevent further processing for the time being.

Within the confines of Art. 20 GDPR, you have the right to receive your personal data in a machine-readable format to forward them or have them forwarded to another controller if necessary.
6.5 Right to complain
Also, you have the right under Art. 77 GDPR to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority about our processing of your personal data.
6.6 Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, an any time to the processing of your personal data being processed based on Art. 6 (1) e or f GDPR. This also applies to profiling based on this provision.
We will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
If your personal data are being processed for the purpose of direct marketing, you have the right to object to this type of processing at any time. This also applies to profiling as far as it is connected with such direct marketing.
